Women rightsEducation
Everywhere in the world, girls and young women face violence and discrimination. Access to culture, knowledge and information are key to combating this scourge for two reasons:
- in a logic of prevention, so that they gain the confidence and awareness they need to overcome self-censorship and/or overcome discrimination ;
- in a logic of curation, to help them survive (in cases of violence in particular) and rebuild, via the use of culture as a means of escape and creation to recount their trauma, and access to knowledge as a tool for building their future (crafts, entrepreneurship etc).
However, Libraries Without Borders notes that very often, young girls and women are less numerous to visit its programs, which the NGO therefore wishes to enrich and adapt to these issues.
Solution
The aim is to carry out a project to enrich the resources and activities made available to each of Libraries Without Borders' programs, in 36 different languages, via:
- work to select and create new adapted content (books, videos, moocs etc.);
- the design of teaching kits to run specific workshops for young girls (self-confidence, speaking out, creativity, orientation, civic mobilization etc.), in partnership with experts on the subject, with a view to prevention.

10 years of impact for BSF's Ideas Boxes!
Dear difteurs,
Designed in 2014 by Philippe Starck for Bibliothèques Sans Frontières, the Ideas Box has established itself as the flagship tool at the heart of our actions in favor of a fair sharing of access to knowledge around the world.
Designed to meet the needs of each beneficiary population and the specific objectives of each project imagined with local partners, each of our Ideas Boxes is unique because populated with content created and/or selected to measure.
Thoughtfully designed to reach the populations furthest from culture, education and information, they are deployed in humanitarian crisis contexts as well as in support of development programs or the fight against inequality.
This year, in 2024, we celebrate 10 years of impact for our Ideas Box. Today, there are 161 Ideas Boxes that are deployed in 25 countries and have enabled 2.7 million beneficiaries to take refuge, resist, reconcile, emancipate and cultivate hope for a better future.
Relive, with our sponsor Augustin Trapenard, these last 10 years within our Ideas Boxes!
A big thank you to you, dear difteurs, for your precious support and donations ✨

Dear Captains,
Thanks to your difts, in 2023, Libraries Without Borders' actions benefited 497,000 people in 22 countries.
From the libraries deployed in Turkey and Morocco following the earthquakes, to those accompanying women survivors of sexual violence in the conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo, to the creation of an educational kit to combat illiteracy through radio in French Guiana, our teams have not ceased to innovate and reinvent themselves this year in order to respond as effectively as possible to the needs of the most vulnerable populations.
