Solution
The ocean is heavily degraded by plastic pollution but also by other pollution, overfishing, global warming and other scourges.
Pure Ocean funds research programs to understand and combat pollution, to preserve and restore marine life and innovate solutions to these problems. In 6 years, 28 scientific projects have been supported.
Here's an example of a project:
The REEF REBORN project has developed a lipid cocktail for feeding coral larvae that increases their survival rate by 46% and strengthens their thermal resilience. This breakthrough innovation for the ecological restoration of coral reefs has been selected by the Australian Government to restore the Great Barrier Reef, and is already becoming an international reference model.

Call for Projects 2025: ocean research needs you!
Our 6th call for projects attracted a record number of applications, testifying to the urgency of supporting ocean research. We saw significant participation from projects originating in the Global South, an area particularly affected by climate disruption.
💡 Every year, we are amazed by the scientific research projects proposed to preserve the ocean, each more innovative than the last! But we're also overwhelmed to see so many promising solutions that won't be able to be supported... That's why your support is crucial to turning these ideas into reality!
Next step: 40 projects have been shortlisted to continue their application and submit their full dossier for evaluation by our scientific committee.
📅 Announcement of results on March 21, 2025.
We look forward to discovering and presenting the 2025 projects to you!
The money will be used for
The funds raised will be used to fund new research projects, linked to the fight against pollution. This research can lead to solutions with a positive impact on ocean health, and therefore also on human health.
