Providing Aid to Flood Victims in Nepal

On August 26, 2026, a flood of exceptional intensity struck the Bhote Koshi Valley, near Nepal’s northern border with Tibet. A massive avalanche of ice, rocks, and debris triggered a devastating torrent. According to preliminary figures from Nepalese authorities, at least 1,000 people were killed and more than 4,400 are missing. Given the scale of the needs, Handicap International is deploying an emergency response to assist vulnerable people.

Solution

With more than 25 years of experience, Handicap International teams are ready to respond quickly to local hospitals with a specialized rehabilitation team, which is essential for minimizing the long-term effects of serious injuries. In addition, we provide mobility aids and psychological support to victims and distribute essential supplies to affected families.

Use of the money

Your donations enable Handicap International to provide basic assistance to victims of this humanitarian crisis by distributing food kits, hygiene kits, water containers, and tents. They fund Handicap International’s response to meet the specific needs of people with disabilities or injuries through mobility aids, prosthetics, rehabilitation sessions, and the implementation of psychosocial support activities to alleviate victims’ psychological distress.
